Andrew McGann, 28, remains in custody without bond following his initial court appearance on Friday (August 1) for the alleged murder of a couple at Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas. McGann, from Springdale, was arrested on Wednesday (July 30) after being found at a local hair salon. He faces two counts of capital murder for the deaths of Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, who were fatally attacked while hiking with their two young daughters. The children were unharmed and are now with family members.

During the hearing, McGann was appointed a public defender and informed of the charges against him. Washington County Prosecutor Brandon Carter requested a no-contact order for the victims' family if a bond is set in the future. The judge indicated that bond conditions could be determined later.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) reported that the Brinks were attacked on Saturday (July 26) while hiking. A 911 call led to the discovery of their bodies on a trail. Witnesses reported seeing a man with blood on his face leaving the scene in a black Kia Stinger, which McGann later confirmed as his vehicle. Upon his arrest, police observed cuts on McGann's hands and found possible blood in his car.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders praised law enforcement's efforts in capturing McGann, stating, "We do not tolerate violent crime in Arkansas." ASP Col. Mike Hagar commended the collaboration between state and local agencies in bringing the suspect to justice.

An autopsy confirmed that the Brinks died from stab wounds. The investigation continues as authorities gather more evidence and prepare for potential legal proceedings.
