Damage Is Widespread in Van Buren Following Storms

Damage is widespread in the town of Van Buren, Arkansas after a tornadic storm blew through this morning. Crawford County Emergency Management officials are reporting over 50 structures have been damaged, with the heaviest damage around the 19th Street and Mulberry Circle area. Some homes and an apartment complex sustained damage. In all, more than 30 families were displaced. There are no reports of serious injuries.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter for those impacted by this morning's tornado in Crawford County. The shelter is located at First Baptist Church, 1121 Main Street in Van Buren.

A tornado was also reported near Sallisaw, but no significant damage was reported.
