The Department of Government Efficiency is cutting over $179 million in federal grants from the Arkansas Departments of Health, Human Services and Education. Most of the cuts are to the Department of Health. The funds were given for support during the COVID pandemic and the Health Department says it will, "no longer waste billions in taxpayer dollars." It is unclear how the grant cuts will affect services. Close to half of the Department of Health's funding comes from federal grants.
