Four University of Idaho students were found dead at a home near the school's campus in what police in the city of Moscow referred to as a homicide case on Sunday (November 13) via NBC News.

University of Idaho students were advised to shelter in place or avoid the campus as the suspect was "not known at this time" in an alert shared Sunday afternoon.

The shelter-in-place request was lifted about an hour after the alert was initially sent to students.

University of Idaho President Scott Green identified the four victims as students who were living off campus, but didn't share their names in an email sent out late Sunday night, adding that there was no believed continuing threat.

The school canceled all classes in honor of the four students and planned to offer counseling, according to the email.

Police didn't provide details of the manner of death, identities or victim descriptions in relation to the cases.

"This is an ongoing investigation," Capt. Tyson Berrett said in the statement obtained by NBC News. "Information will be updated as soon as next of kin is notified and we have information we can share."

Berrett said Moscow Police officers responded to the residence on King Road, which is located about about a half-block from the University of Idaho campus, just prior to noon on Sunday.

"The Moscow Police Department gives our heartfelt condolences to family members, friends and the Moscow community," Berrett said via NBC News.
