Hurricane Laura Slams Gulf Coast At 1AM As Category 4 System

Laura made landfall near Cameron, Louisiana as a strong Category 4 hurricane with 150 mph winds around 1am CDT.

Laura is now tracking through western Louisiana this morning as a Category 2 hurricane. The hurricane's winds will start to weaken as it moves inland toward Arkansas through the day today.

The winds have caused power outages for more than 300,000 homes and businesses in southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana so far, according to poweroutage.us.

The National Weather Service for Arkansas currently has the state listed with a "Tropical Storm Warning" and also a Flash Flood Watch with the potential for as much as 9 or 10 inches of rain by Friday afternoon.
