Lady Gaga Teases New Song 'Free Woman' From 'Chromatica' Album

Lady Gaga might be teasing her Chromatica single.

The "Born This Way" singer took to Twitter yesterday with lyrics to what appears to be the new song from her upcoming sixth studio album, arriving this Friday (May 29). “THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM #CHROMATICA ⚔️💓 3 DAYS,” Gaga tweeted along with a graphic that shows the words, “This is my dance floor I fought for.” Pop culture outlets revealed the words are from the fifth Chromatica track, titled “Free Woman.”

According to Genius, the lyric appears in the second verse of the song, which goes: “This is my dance floor I fought for/ Ain’t hard, know what I’m livin’ for (Be free)/ Light up my body/ And kiss me too heartily (Be free)/ This time, I’m only listening to me.”

What's more, the track, co-produced by BloodPop and Axwell, reportedly leaked in full on May 8. (You can hear the unverified audio here.)

She touched on the harrowing inspiration behind the record in a recent radio interview earlier this month. "I tend to aspire for things to be genderless," Gaga explained. "[It was] significant to reference my gender because I was assaulted by a music producer. I no longer am going to define myself as a survivor or as a victim.”

It’s not yet known whether Gaga will officially unveil “Free Woman” as her next single following last week’s hotly anticipated release of the Ariana Grande collaboration “Rain On Me” and lead single “Stupid Love.” As fans know, the Grammy-winning musician’s new 16-song LP also includes duets with K-pop group Blackpink for “Sour Candy” and Elton John on “Sine from Above" — see the full track listing here.
