Jimmy Carter Fractures Pelvis in Fall at Home

Former President Jimmy Carter Holds News Conference On His Cancer Diagnosis

The 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, was hospitalized on Tuesday after he sustained a fall at his Georgia home Monday night that resulted in a fractured pelvis, The Carter Center said in a press release.

"Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter had a fall yesterday evening at his home in Plains, Ga," The Carter Center tweeted. "He has been admitted to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for observation and treatment of a minor pelvic fracture. He is in good spirits and is looking forward to recovering at home."

This is the second injury for the 95-year-old Carter in recent weeks, who earlier this month, fell in his home, sustaining a black eye that required 14 stitches above his brow. However, that didn't keep the former president down after he appeared a few days later at a Habitat for Humanity project to build a home in Tennessee.

The former president has already survived cancer in 2015, surpassing George H.W. Bush as the longest-lived U.S. president in history earlier this year.
