Man Goes To Smoke Pot In Abandoned House, Finds Tiger

An anonymous tipster broke into an abandoned house in Houston, Texas to smoke some weed when he discovered a large tiger in an unlocked cage inside the building. The tipster told the police that he thought he was hallucinating when he stumbled across the tiger in the garage. Officials said that the 1,000-pound tiger was not in the best shape when they found her.

"A pretty small cage inside basically a garage in a house that didn't look like it was in the best shape. So it was important that we get it out of that situation," Lara Cottingham, who works for the city of Houston, told reporters.

The police worked with BARC, a local animal shelter and adoption facility, to tranquilize and remove the wild animal from the home. BARC is working to find the tiger a permanent home at a wildlife sanctuary as quickly as possible because they are not equipped to deal with wild animals.

“There's an incredible network all across the United States and here in Houston and here in Texas. It's just finding the right combination and then transporting," Cottingham said.

Authorities said that nobody was at the home when the tiger was removed and they are working to identify the owner of the animal. It is against the law in Houston to keep a tiger in your house.
